15 Golf Facilities in Canada 2017 Edition © Golf Canada and The PGA of Canada P rince Edward Island, stretching 193 kilometers from top to tip, is often referred to as Canada's No.1 Golf Destination. PEI offers a strong mix of classic, modern, links and sea-side golf courses making it an ideal location for a golf vacation. Many of the province's courses offer stunning views of the ocean and gently rolling hillsides. Given the small size of the province, a visitor or resident is never more than 40 minutes away from a golf facility. The island boasts a strong supply relative to its popula- tion of full-time residents. Canada's smallest province in both area and population, PEI, holds the distinction of having the most golf facilities per capita of any province in Canada. All of the province's 25 golf facilities are open for public play, 32 percent of which are nine-holes courses. At least one third of PEI's facilities were built during a boom cycle between 1990 and 2000 when golf was a major tourism driver in the province. The province has seen only three new facilities open since 2001 and none since 2010. DID YOU KNOW? In the City of Summerside you can see both the north and south shores from the same spot. PEI was the first Canadian province to host "The Big Break" at Mill River.
