Alberta has the third-largest golf supply amongst the provinces with 308 facilities, of which 92 percent are open to the public. There are also 24 private clubs and 22 facilities tied to real estate developments, the second most in Canada. Alberta has 24 resort facili- ties, the most in the stunning Canadian Rocky Mountain region, supporting its robust tourism industry. Although 61 percent of the golf facilities in Alberta are 18-holes or more, accounting for 39% of total supply. 9-hole facilities are abundant in the province with 121. Alberta has seen eight openings this decade, the most in any province. The growth is on track to continue, as there are currently eight and a half 18-hole equivalents in development — the most of any province. The city of Calgary boasts the largest number of golf facilities among any city in Canada with 31 facilities sporting 630 golf holes. Interestingly, Calgary Golf & Country Club has moved four times since it was estab- lished in 1897. DID YOU KNOW?
