16 Golf Facilities in Canada 2017 Edition © Golf Canada and The PGA of Canada Q uébec's grand land mass features the second-high- est number of golf facilities in Canada with 359 and presents a variety of layouts that wind through mature forests, or climb mountainous terrain near some of the province's world-class ski hills. It also features one of the largest facilities in the country in Terrebonne, on the northern outskirts of Montréal, where Le Versant showcases three 18-hole courses. With 88 percent of Québec's golf facilities open to the public golf is widely accessible to golfers of all ages and skill levels. Québec is proud of its golf development programs including the Golf in Schools program with 577 participating schools, Future Links Field Trips, over 100 mobile clinics and 12 Junior Golf Development Centres. There are close to 1.1 million active golfers in the province, combining over 7 million golf rounds of which 11 percent are played by tourists. With 29 golf resorts, the province is also among the most popular tourism destinations in the country. Since 2010, three facilities have opened and there currently are two new golf projects in development. DID YOU KNOW? Québec is home to some of the oldest golf courses in Canada including Golf Laval-sur-le-Lac with 2017 marking its centennial. Royal Montréal Golf Club, founded in 1873, hosted the Canadian Open 10 times, including in 2014 as well as the Presidents Cup in 2007.
