The second-smallest province in terms of landmass has an impressive array of high quality golf courses from traditional to contemporary that can delight any golfer. All but four of Nova Scotia's 75 golf facilities are open to the public. Of the total supply, 36 percent are 9-hole facilities. Eight new facilities have opened in Nova Scotia since 2001 including the highly acclaimed Cabot Links and Links at Brunello in Halifax which both opened for play in 2015. Cabot Links was named one of the top 100 golf courses in the world in 2016. Aspotogan Ridge, a new course within a real estate community, also opened in Nova Scotia in 2016. Cape Breton Island, a 10,311 km island featuring 12 facilities northeast of the Nova Scotia mainland has become a renowned golf destination. Notable courses such as Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs along with Highland Links and Bell Bay Golf Club have made the island a hotbed for golf tourism. The game of golf contributed an estimated $253 million toward Nova Scotia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) which includes 6,300 jobs; $150 million in household income; $21.2 million in property and other indirect taxes; and about $48.2 million in federal and provincial income taxes.** PGA OF CANADA Atlantic Zone
