PGA OF CANADA - HIRING PRACTICES OF A PGA OF CANADA PROFESSIONAL | 19 CANDIDATES (ESPECIALLY JUNIOR ONES) MUST BE PREPARED TO TALK ABOUT WHY THEY WANT TO ENTER THE BUSINESS. QUESTIONS INCLUDE: • Why do you want to be a PGA of Canada Professional? • Why are you in this business? • What have you done to demonstrate interest in golf? • What have you done in previous roles? • What tools do you bring with you to the job? • Who are you personally? • Who do you respect professionally? PGA OF CANADA PROFESSIONALS ARE ALSO USING THE INTERVIEW TO UNDERSTAND WHAT MAKES A CANDIDATE UNIQUE – SOMEONE WHO MEMBERS AND GUESTS WANT TO BE AROUND. CONCLUSION: In 2017 the PGA of Canada set out to gather data on PGA of Canada members and candidates for membership in our groundbreaking Roles and Responsibilities study. We used data to create a more targeted approach to PGA of Canada education and employment strategies—like this Hiring Practices Research document you've just read through. This first of its kind research project has a number of take-aways for the PGA of Canada, including: • The PGA Training Academy—a new training platform • Development of highly-relevant professional development sessions • Basis for future research projects Like the Roles and Responsibilities study that came before, this research and key learning's will continually evolve. We encourage feedback from PGA of Canada members, candidates for membership, owners, employers and hiring managers alike. Again, we wish to thank everyone who participated in this Hiring Practices Research. This study would not have been possible without your inclusion.
