Each map describes the roles held, length of me in each role, key learn- ing's, and the educa on, cer fica on and/or membership obtained by the golf professional as their career evolved. An analysis of the 10 Career Maps iden- fied the following key similari es: i. Except for one head professional, all others spent their en re career working at a golf course, resort or facility. ii. The average number of roles held prior to becoming a head professional was five. iii. It took approximately 12-years following high school gradua on to obtain a head professional role iv. Appendix B illustrates a 'generic' career map for Head Professionals. This was created to describe the typical roles, me frame, recommended developmental experiences, educa on, cer fica on, and memberships that seemed common to all 10 Head Professionals. It is important to men on, that while there were noteworthy similari es, each head professional had a unique career path which included a variety of key learning's experiences. Consequently, it is impossible for any aspiring golf professional to have a 'generic' career as each one is shaped by the nature of the person and the experiences and/or environment they are exposed to.
