PGA OF CANADA: ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES THE PGA OF CANADA Since 1911 Dear PGA of Canada Member and Candidate for Membership, F rom the very early planning stages, the inten on of the re- search was clear: benefit PGA of Canada professionals to earn be er pay, obtain be er jobs and promote the value of his or her skills. A joint ini a ve by the PGA of Canada, the Na onal Golf Course Owners' Associa on Canada (NGCOA Canada) and Na onal Golf Founda on, more than 500 PGA of Canada members and nearly 260 owners and general managers graciously took part in the research. The purpose of the research was to gather data on the roles and responsibili es of golf professionals. Now that we have the data, we can create a more targeted approach to PGA of Cana- da educa on and employment support. While the essence of this research is to posi vely benefit PGA of Canada members and CFMs; the informa on will also help guide PGA of Canada na onal board members, na onal staff and stakeholders in three ways: • Decision making; • Crea on and review of educa on and employment resources, and training; • Beneficial ini a ves for the Canadian golf industry. Throughout this constantly evolving document, we wish to give you a be er understanding of the data collected and how it will be used. PGA of Canada members can expect benefits in the areas of: • Employment and career support; • Direc on and content for professional development; • Review of exis ng Candidate for Membership (CFM) educa on. We believe our goal of benefi ng PGA of Canada profession- als, regardless of his or her role at a facility, to earn be er pay, obtain be er jobs and promote the value of his or skills has, and will con nue to be, met with the Roles and Responsibili es research project. Finally, we wish to thank the PGA of Canada members and CFMs who par cipated--this research project would not have been possible without your inclusion. We also recognize the ongoing support and partnership with NGCOA Canada and the NGF.
