Excluding the U.S., Canada is home to 13 percent of that worldwide supply, and is only one of six countries with more than 500 golf facilities. While golf is certainly a worldwide game — as evident by its inclusion in the 2016 Summer Olympics — supply remains largely concentrated among the most developed nations. Excluding the United States, 70 percent of all golf facilities are located in only 10 countries, and 85 percent of all facilities worldwide are located in 20 countries. Although course construction has slowed during the past few years in Canada, 26 new golf facilities have opened since 2010. Currently, there are 22 (18-hole equivalents) new golf development projects in various stages of development in eight provinces.
