17 Golf Facilities in Canada 2017 Edition © Golf Canada and The PGA of Canada S askatchewan's unique prairie topography allows for golf facilities to take advantage of its majestic dunes and natural landscapes to produce layouts unlike any other in Canada. Its 206 facilities serve a population of just over 1.15 million, making Saskatchewan second to just PEI in terms of golf facilities per capita. Among the total supply, 149 facilities are 9-holes, second among all provinces. When you factor in the one 12-hole facility, 73 percent of Saskatchewan's golf facilities have fewer than 18 holes. Saskatchewan has the highest percentage of 9-hole facilities among any Canadian province or US State across North America. 125 of Saskatchewan's facilities, or 60 percent of the total supply, were added between 1960 and 2000. The province is also among the most accessible for public golfers as 202 of the 206 facilities offer daily fee access. The first golf course in the province was a four-hole layout crafted by a member of the North West Mounted Police in 1896. DID YOU KNOW?
