T he Victoria Golf Club, founded in 1893, is proud to be a part of Canadian golf history as the oldest club in Canada on its original soil. The course is situated on a spectacular piece of land with most holes over looking the Pacific Ocean. For nearly 125 years, we have hosted many of the greats including Gary Player, Sam Snead, Al Geiberger, George Knudson, Johnny Miller, in addition to other great professionals, celebrities and royalty. As a club, we have hosted provincial, national and international am- ateur championships; the PGA of BC Championships; and a number exhibition professional matches. We are honoured to be hosting, for the first time, the PGA of Canada Championship—one of the oldest and most notable championships of the PGA of Canada. Growing up at Victoria Golf Club, to being an assistant golf professional and now as gen- eral manager, this club has been a part of my heart for most of my life. I look forward to shar- ing our course with the participants, who I know will experience many emotions as they play this gem in the west. What our course lacks in length is quickly combated by the winds and unique greens. It's a course that will require players to hit some pitch and runs, as well as the occasional high lobs. It will also test your mind as you decided whether to gamble or play safe. No two rounds at the Victoria Golf Club are the same. The mix of stroke and match play that makes up the PGA Championship of Canada is perfectly suited to the Victoria Golf Club, and we hope the players will enjoy an experience that is unlike any other course in Canada.
