I n our short history, Cabot Links has been witness to some great golf. Two years ago Cana- dian star Graham DeLaet went head-to-head with Irish star Graeme McDowell, and last year PGA Tour star Matt Kuchar shot a couple of impressive scores while playing our links with his father. And Cabot will experience great golf again when one of the oldest and most noted tour- naments in this country's history, the PGA Championship of Canada, comes to our links. It is always thrilling to see great players play links golf, tackling the firm turf and challenging the subtle randomness that comes with golf by the sea. It'll be fascinating for spectators and players alike to play a version of golf that connects to the game's historic roots. To my way of thinking many of the most memorable championships in the history of the sport have been contested on links courses. Great golfers have to be able to adapt to the conditions that seaside golf presents, from the turning winds to the unevenness of the ground. Nothing is ever certain on a links other than the best players always prevail. That's why the greats—Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson and Tiger Woods—have all ex- celed on links courses. The mix of stroke and match play that makes up the PGA Championship of Canada is per- fectly suited to Cabot Links, and we hope the players will enjoy an experience that is unlike any course in Canada. There's no doubt this year is an exciting one at Cabot. We'll unveil our latest creation— Cabot Cliffs, designed by the team of Bill Coore and Ben Cren- shaw—in July, launch our real estate offerings and add more accommodations to our resort. In the midst of this excitement at Cabot is the PGA Champi- onship of Canada. It is our pleasure and privilege to host such a distinguished championship and it is my sincere hope that players and spectators alike will embrace our links, the town of Inverness, and get a chance to experience what makes Cape Breton so special. Best regards, Ben Cowan-Dewar
