10  | PGA PRo:FoRMANCE pRO:tips Place a couple of Pro Stix behind the ball about six inches apart. en we place an Impact Trainer just forward of centre in our stance. Set up with a 7-iron in a normal address position with the hands even with the inside of your front thigh and the ball behind the club. Slowly turn the club back, moving the ball down the line between the two Pro Stix using the shoulders to create an effective load in the back leg. e club should move away from address into a parallel position to the ground and in line with our feet. is move keeps the club from getting stuck behind us or getting too far out in front and helps the club stay on plane throughout the swing. With the club in a better position at the top of the backswing, we are now able to transfer our weight from back foot to front foot more efficiently and let the club drop into the hitting area from the inside. When we make so contact with the impact bag we want to hold the finish and look for our hands to be ahead of the club head with our weight on our front foot. Note: is drill can be adapted for short game practice using foam balls and a chipping net. Using the Pro Stix to create the same takeaway path, we can work on our move away from the ball and feel the same weight transfer and con- tact at impact to hit solid pitch shots. Video Link This drill works on taking the club away from the ball smoothly and transitioning into a solid impact position. 1 2 3 1 3 2
