Which is why I was thrilled to be outside my shop at the start of May welcoming members to La Vallée Du richelieu, the club where I'm head professional. ere has been a lot of discussion about the future of this game that we all love so much. But you'd never think enthusiasm for the sport has slipped when watching my members clamour to the first tee. ey want to be out playing, having placed their games in hibernation once the snow hit the ground. ey love golf and are passionate about the sport. one thing is clear to me: we need to look forward, and keep supporting the game in any way possible. at means investing in our golf courses so they can sustain themselves in Canada's challenging climate, and also looking at ways to not only engage our current golfers, but introduce the sport to those who will surely fall under its spell. at means continuously innovating and looking at options. Take, for in- stance, Le Parcours du Cerf in Longueuil, which recently created Quebec's first 12-hole course. Early in my career I worked at a par-64 course. Like Par- cours du Cerf, it presented options beyond playing 7,000-yard, 18-hole courses. Diversity and innovation are keys. Golf creates more than 300,000 jobs in Canada, with more than 60 million rounds played each year. ere's lots to celebrate in this country, as you'll see in the first of two issues of PRO:For- mance that the PGA of Canada will produce this year. —Constant Priondolo, President, PGA of Canada Supporting the game " We need to look forward and keep supporting the game in any way possible.
