COACH OF HIGH PERFORMERS • LONG TERM PLAYER DEVELOPMENT ALIGNMENT & AGES: Train to Excel & Excel (23-years old and older athletes) • ALIGNMENT WITH PGA OF CANADA COACH CERTIFICATION – Coach of High Performers • ESTIMATED TIME TO COMPLETE TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION: 2 – 4 years • HOW TO ACCESS PGA OF CANADA COACH OF HIGH PERFORMERS TRAINING: Working with Golf Canada and the Coaching Association of Canada, The PGA of Canada will recruite coach candidates based on (still to be developed) published criteria While continuing to grow in the selected coaching career channel, coaches at this stage enjoy respect inside and outside the sport for their thinking and expertise in coaching. The previous years determine the people who not only will become role models of coaching excellence, but who now have a deep understanding of what coaching is all about. Furthermore, such key features as strategy, decision making, performance delivery and team building are now appreciated across disciplines, sports, business and so on. Their advice is sought in the areas ofcoaching, 26 performance, leadership or management counsel and they continue to learn from these other areas to enrich their own concepts of coaching in sport. This is a dynasty build coach who will shape what coaching is for future generations. Kevin Spacey once said "when you get to the top, you must remember to send the elevator back down." If coaching is to continue to grow, those coaches who have made it through to the last stage of the pathway, must do just that. Just as coaches at the start of the journey needed quality mentoring, so too must a coach at this stage afford early stage coaches mentoring opportunities. These coaches should also take time to reflect and understand that their life experience can add value to the life experience of those who will follow. In this context, there will be little need for instruction to support the revenues of the coach. The coach will focus nearly 100% of their energies on coaching activities.
