CASE STUDY - HENRY BRUNTON GOLF www.henrybrunton.com OVERVIEW: Henry Brunton Golf is a year round golf coaching services company focused primarily on organizing and executing best in class player development programs for serious golfers. Junior golf is key area of focus for Henry Brunton Golf. The organization offers high quality programming for girls and boys across the full LTPD spectrum. COACHING STRUCTURE: Henry Brunton Golf currently employs four PGA of Canada coaches. Dr. Nick Martichenko (chiropractor, TPI Certified) supports the golf coaching staff. During peak times ten junior golf counselors are hired to support junior golf camps. HOW LTPD/LTAD IMPACTS THE BUSINESS: The coaches at Henry Brunton Golf believe LTPD is becoming more important and relevant as it becomes better known within the golf community, including athletes and parents. The entire staff at Henry Brunton Golf works closely as a team to coach and support the athletes. Two of the PGA of Canada members dedicate significant amounts of time supporting athletes by attending the athlete's competitions, helping them with productive practice rounds and observing players under pressure. FACILITIES: ADMINISTRATION: Henry Brunton Golf has access to the following amenities at, or near, one of the three facilities it is located at. Most of the regular administration of the business is completed by the coaches on staff. One part time bookkeeper is used to manage the accounting needs. 22 Henry Brunton Golf operates year round using Eagles Nest Golf Club, Bathurst Glen Golf Club and the Metro Golf Dome. PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Fla, is the winter training home of Henry Brunton Golf. • Driving range • Full short game area • Indoor hitting bays • Office space • Video capabilities including Trackman • Fitness area located at local school as well the use of two classrooms COACH AND ATHLETE RECRUITMENT: Coaches are recruited through word of mouth, professional contacts and PGA of Canada online employment services. Athletes are recruited primarily through word of mouth. The business' website plays a large role in the marketing and recruiting for the coaching programs. Attending junior golf tournaments and speaking with parents and athletes is another recruitment tactic.
