MESSAGE FROM CEO'S The PGA of Canada is truly pleased to present the newly developed Career Coach Guide —Building a Career in Coaching Golf. This document is a valuable resource and roadmap for PGA of Canada professionals who wish to pursue a career in coaching. Through its education initiatives, PGA of Canada members wishing to pursue a career in coaching are not only well prepared, but are regarded by various golf and sports associations not only in Canada, but also around the globe as leaders in the world of coaching. Throughout this document, numerous PGA of Canada members have offered their experiences, business plans and quotes in order to further develop not only this resource, but other members of the association as well. This is another example of PGA of Canada professionals supporting fellow members in living a better life and earning a better living. I believe this document is an invaluable resource for PGA of Canada members in achieving their goals of being a coach in the sport of golf and not only does it provide a solid framework, but clearly outlines the steps they will need to take in reaching their ultimate goals—Career Coach. From the playground to the podium, we are fuelled by our National Sport Organization mandate to increase excellence in our sport and we strongly believe that quality coaches are critical to the development of Canada's competitive players. Our focus in partnering on this exciting, well articulated pathway on what is involved in becoming a coach and the opportunities that this presents, is not simply to develop top talents and cultivate the Olympic dream for golf, but also to invest in the development of coaches that can offer best in class program delivery to Canadian high performance golfers from coast to coast. This document outlines a systematic approach for PGA of Canada professionals looking to specialize as a coach. Quality coaching and a fundamental understanding of the tiered stages of high performance program delivery as well as athlete training best practices is critical at every touch point of sport development. With a focused curriculum that align with golf's Long Term Player Development Guide, this resource will help PGA of Canada professionals develop the confidence, skill set and core competencies to become an effective golf coach.
