COACH OF HIGH PERFORMERS THE SKILLS OF THE COACH GENERAL CONCEPTS INTRODUCED TO ATHLETES: Training athletes to perform in the most demanding competitive environments; leading year round training with athletes who have chosen to now specialize in the sport of golf; sport science and integrated support teams are now a regular part of the training program; development of the skills now required to compete as a professional; participation in national and international competition Coaches in this context will have skills in the following areas: • Advanced program development • Advanced planning skills and understanding of periodization • High level of competence in the development of yearly training and performance plans • Detailed understanding of statistics and the implication of the statistics • Very skilled in the development of pre-competition planning and debriefing • High level skills in identification of multiple factors affecting performance 28 • Very competent in the management of integrated support teams that include numerous sport science experts as well as the athlete's personal swing instructors • Skilled in developing a variety of types of goals with athletes and other stakeholders
