COACH OF DEVELOPING COMPETITORS THE SKILLS OF THE COACH GENERAL CONCEPTS INTRODUCED TO ATHLETES: begin to train to increase competitive results; further develop personal qualities and healtHy lifestyles through golf and competition; participation in regional, provincial and national competition Coaches in this context will have skills in the following areas: • More advanced Program development • Developing individualized performance and yearly training plans • Strong program administration • Management of travelling competitions • Ability to provide strong learning environments creating critical thinking, problem solving skills with athletes • Increased knowledge of the rules of golf • Introduction to facilitation and team management skills to coordinate sport science expertise (nutrition, mental, fitness) including the athlete's personal swing instructors • Tournament preparation and competition debrief • Parent relationships • Developed skill as an equipment fitter including all clubs and balls • More developed management of statistics 20
